Elementary Art Education

My approach to elementary art education is all about choice and exploration. The goal is for students to expand their knowledge of materials and processes on their own terms- allowing them to face all problems with creative problem-solving.

Below are a few unit plans I have created and lead.

  • Line Cities

Creating drawn cityscapes using as many different types of lines as possible in orde tto explore the element of line.

  • Identity Portraits

Portraits that represent who we are rather than just our faces.

  • Paper Sculptures

Exploring contemporary sculpture and experimental mediums.

  • Gelli Plate Printmaking

Exploring the art of the multiple and abstracting images.

  • Mural Arts

    Appreciating community arts.

  • National Park Embroidery

Exploring fiber arts and landscape drawing.

  • Fossil Project

Appreciation for science and history via craft arts.

  • Collage

    Multimedia collage that crosses disciplines.

  • Primary Color Paintings

Creating unique tempera painting using only the primary colors.
