Lives & Works in Philadelphia, PA

Daniela Cassetta was born in Queens, New York. She attended the University of the Arts in Philadelphia where she earned her Bachelor's in Fine Arts in 2021 and her Master's of Art in Teaching in 2022. She has been professionally teaching for 3 years through the School District of Philadelphia. She is currently an Elementary Art Teacher for grades K-8 for W.C Bryant Elementary in West Philadelphia. Daniela has lived and taught in Philadelphia for 6 years. Her professional and artistic life is largely tied to the city as it is a part of her every day. She spends most of her days engrossed in her work as an educator. She firmly believes that an art classroom is a space for not only personal expression but also creative problem solving- both skills important for making art as well as navigating life outside of school.

On the days she is on her own, she is often creating artwork about her life in attempt to reflect upon her days. Daniela loves to explore color; it is her favorite thing to not only teach about, but use within her own artwork. Daniela has shown a few times throughout her career as a student but has slowed in recent years as she has focused on her teaching. As she further settles into her education career, she is eager to start showing her work again post-graduation.

Daniela’s main goal is to inspire the next generation of artists while continuing to make work that is reflective of herself. She will continue her personal practice and be the example of a working artist that whom she hopes to inspire her students with. Her career in the arts is split between giving back to her community and creating personal artwork.
